The GIANT bow came on an even more giant teddy bear

Our sweet little guy turned one last week! I swear, the time both just flew by and also felt like the longest year ever.

We are beyond blessed that Judah’s birth parents chose us to be his parents. We can’t imagine life without him.

It was a lot of fun to reminisce about how everything came about that day. Eric and I had to quickly rent a car and drive through a terrible ice storm to get to Florida. It took us about a day and a half to make the 18 hour trip.

Because he was a preemie, we had a bit of a NICU stay. And once he was released, we had to stay in Florida for about a week to wait for the states to process all of the adoption paperwork, called ICPC, or Interstate Compact on the Placement of Children.

Oh the palm trees of Clearwater…..

We then drove home in a huge snow storm.

Yay for winter in the Midwest………

Thank God for amazing church members who had someone come plow our driveway!

Fast forward to now and we have an adorable, sweet, stubborn, opinionated, busy, happy one year old. And we wouldn’t have it any other way.

So because he is our only (and most likely will be our only…) child, I’ve spent the past few months planning a large birthday party for him.

As I posted about here, I had a hard time deciding on a theme, but once the book idea popped into my head, it all came together quite nicely.

Last week was a bit of a whirlwind, especially because Eric had two funerals on top of Judah’s birthday and party planning. And last minute party details took over the large majority of any free time so things were a bit crazy around here. Yesterday we all tried to take it easy and have a bit of a low key recovery day. Today we should be back to a normal routine.

I will be writing a full post about the book themed birthday party, but since people are still sending me their photos and videos from the party, it isn’t quite ready yet. So until then, here’s a little sneak peek at the party prep!
