Everyone has a favorite drink, right? Whether it be something non-alcoholic like water, coffee, or lemonade or a full-on booze fest like a margarita, long island iced tea, beer, or wine, there’s always a beverage for everyone’s taste. And because today is National Beverage Day, it’s only fitting that I do a delicious drink round-up of some fun drink ideas.
And then be sure to schedule your next shindig ASAP to have an excuse to make all these delicious concoctions!
Fun Boozy Drink Ideas
Sangria
Sangria is so delicious, very easy to make, and an always a crowd pleaser! And there are so many varieties to try. It’s a versatile drink for pretty much any kind of get together. Plus, you know, it has fruit in it so it’s totally healthy. Check out this post from The Good Stuff by coupons.com to help you create your very own sangria recipe!
Wine Spritzers and the Like
Moscato and lemonade? Sign me up! (Especially the raspberry lemonade she shows in the photos…) Simply Wiehl came up with a beautiful and delicious Moscato wine punch, perfect for brunches, showers, and summer lunches.
I love mimosas! We always had them on Christmas morning at my grandma’s. And we try to keep that tradition going now that she’s passed away. Christmas is at our house now, and we always have some version of mimosas with our after-church brunch. They’re also a must for Mother’s Day brunch. Real Housemoms brings us this yummy sweetheart black cherry mimosa. The switch to cherry juice is a genius idea! Plus without the orange juice, it’s a much more boozy drink, which depending on your family gatherings may be a good or a not so good thing…
Margaritas
Margaritas are some of my absolute favorite alcoholic beverages to order. And I have a tendency to order the sweet, fruity ones (raspberry, strawberry…) so I also gravitate towards those recipes as well.
Blackberry lemonade margaritas from Valerie’s Kitchen would be amazing at a summer party. Cool and refreshing! She suggests serving them over ice, which would be perfect, but if you’re like me and prefer frozen margaritas, these could easily be blended up with ice for a frozen treat.
Of course, the National Margarita Day website should have margarita recipes among their fun drink ideas. This year, they posted this peach Moscato margarita recipe. The recipe itself calls for margarita mix, which you can absolutely purchase and use. But if you’d rather make it yourself, check out this homemade margarita mix recipe from Inspired by Charm. It’s really pretty simple to do.
Non-Alcoholic Drinks
Coffee
Caramel Mochas are one of my favorite coffee drinks to order. So I was super excited to find this amazing Iced Caramel Mocha Latte recipe from Melanie Makes. If you wanted to get super fancy, you could put all the ingredients, except for the garnishes of course, into a blender and make it into a frappe. Ooh, that would be such a yummy and fun drink!
Make peppermint mochas in your slow cooker with this recipe from Crazy for Crust! Holiday parties won’t be the same after you make this, to be sure. The recipe itself is made without the coffee so it’s more family friendly, but you can absolutely add coffee to your mug when you’re ready to serve it! Just add mini marshmallows to make the kiddies happy little campers, and add some peppermint schnapps or creme de menthe for the adults to add a little kick.
Lemonades and Juice Beverages
I love cherry flavored anything. So this cherry lemonade from Who Needs a Cape? went directly onto my Pinterest board. Like she says in her post, you could easily customize it to your tastes. And if you’re like me and like to simplify things, even though this recipe is really simple already, you could use pre-made lemonade or make the lemonade from concentrate and add your cherries to that before pureeing in the blender.
Looking for a fancy punch for holidays and showers that’s kid-friendly? Check out this raspberry lemonade fizz by Culinary Hill. So elegant and beautiful!
Jessica from The Novice Chef Blog created this refreshing watermelon lemonade. I’ve made it a couple times now, and it’s so good! My husband likes to do unique things so for Father’s Day a couple years ago, he made a watermelon keg – yes, he hollowed out a watermelon and put a tap in it. Then I made this lemonade and put it inside the watermelon keg. It was a huge hit with the kids and worked really well. And it was super tasty with some tequila or vodka added. Just sayin’.
Ooh, cherry lemonade slush! What a perfect beverage for summer! And Stephanie from Somewhat Simple has made it really easy to create this fun drink idea for your next party.
Chocolate!
Six Sisters Stuff brings us a great milkshake that’s easier on the waistline. This skinny chocolate raspberry milkshake uses lighter ingredients and Greek yogurt so there’s even some extra protein in there for you.
Hayley from The Domestic Rebel always has fun and delicious recipes on her blog. And this time, she came up with a fun way to meld hot chocolate and milkshakes with this frozen hot chocolate recipe. Thick, creamy, and delicious!
And Pinterest All the Way
I also have a Pinterest board dedicated to all kinds of delicious and fun drink ideas. Be sure to check it out and follow it because I add to it frequently!
