I’ve used a lot of baby wipes in my day. Before Judah was born, we were foster parents for 4 months. Before that, we were caregivers for our nieces and nephew, who are now 8, 6, and 6 years old. So I for sure have an opinion on how well some wipes perform over others and wanted to be sure to have a baby wipes review here on the blog, in case anyone had been wondering about any of the wipes we have tried.

Obviously, this baby wipes review is just my humble opinion about the ones we’ve used in the past. There weren’t any absolutely terrible wipes that I’ve used, but there are some brands I don’t care for and also one particular brand I love more than the others. This post is not sponsored, and the views stated here are 100% my own. However, since all of the prices I’m posting are from Amazon…

Regular Baby Wipes

Huggies Simply Clean Fragrance-Free Baby Wipes – $0.02 per wipe, $1.50 per pack in a case of 9 packs
These wipes are hands-down my favorite baby wipes to use so naturally they’re first up in this baby wipes review. They’re the perfect thickness. And they are attached to each other in the package by slight perforations instead of being folded together like tissues so you only get amount needed instead of pulling out more wipes than you need and wasting them.

Huggies Simply Clean Fresh Scented Baby Wipes – $0.02 per wipe, $1.36 per pack in a case of 9 packs
Ehh, these are ok. The quality is the same as the fragrance-free wipes above, but the scent is a bit overwhelming. I’m not really sure of the purpose of scented baby wipes. I mean, I know it’s to help disguise the smell of whatever substance it’s cleaning, but the scent of the wipes can almost be too much and can even irritate the baby’s delicate skin. (Kinda reminds me a bit of scented feminine hygiene products – same premise, same issues.)

Huggies Refreshing Clean Scented Baby Wipes – $0.03 per wipe, $1.46 per pack in a case of 10
I believe that after Huggies rebranded, these are what the “One and Done” have turned into. The NICU used them while Judah was there, and I wasn’t impressed. They’re just too thick for tiny butts. I thought they were too much for such a tiny person, especially preemies in the NICU. Plus, they’re more expensive and have fewer in a pack, presumably because you’re supposed to use fewer wipes overall, but still. I’ll stick with my regular Huggies wipes, thanks.

Pampers Baby Wipes Complete Clean Unscented – $0.03 per wipe, $2.00 per pack in a case of 10 packs
These wipes attached like tissues in the pack so I would always end up pulling out more than I needed. The quality is good though. They’re made by Pampers, after all. I would definitely use them more often if they changed the way they’re packaged, although they’re also more expensive than other brands, which is the Pampers way. Everything with the Pampers name is more expensive.

Pampers Baby Wipes Sensitive – $0.03 per wipe, $1.41 per pack in a case of 6 packs
Same issues as above. There are fewer in a pack than the regular wipes as well.

Seventh Generation Free & Clear Baby Wipes – $0.03 per wipe, $2.36 per pack in a case of 7 packs
I received 3 sample packets for free from the Generation Good website. Honestly, 6 baby wipes aren’t really enough to provide a full product experience, but as an overall snapshot, in the couple times I’ve used them, I thought they were great. They were a good thickness, not too thin, not too thick. Obviously, since I didn’t have a full-size package, I can’t say how well they come out of the package and detach from each other. But they are definitely more expensive than the “less fancy” Huggies ones I usually use, and since I’m not super “green” when it comes to cleaning products and baby gear, price is a winner over a more organic option, especially when the quality is the same.

Amazon Elements Baby Wipes, Sensitive – $0.02 per wipe, $1.60 per pack in a case of 6 packs
These were just ok. They’re thin and have kind of a beehive design – possibly to help make them stronger? They do come out of the package nicely, one at a time in the beginning. Midway through the pack, however, they’re more like Pampers, as in being more difficult to remove individually, but not quite as difficult to use. One thing I didn’t care for with them – they kind of smell like ballpoint pen ink. It’s not super strong, but it’s there. Like most moms, I use baby wipes for just about everything so the scent is an issue for me. When I used them on Judah’s hands and face, I could still smell that odd smell half an hour later. So, they’re fine for bum use, but not for cleaning other body parts unless the scent doesn’t bother you.

Water-Based Wipes

Water Wipes Sensitive Baby Wipes – $0.06 per wipe, $3.57 per pack in a case of 12 packs
The wipes themselves were perfectly fine, quality wise. They’re much more expensive though. Plus, the packaging has a bit of a design flaw. The resealable flap is just an adhesive flap that closes over the opening of the package. The problem with that is that there is quite a bit of excess liquid in the package to keep the wipes moist. So the liquid leaked out of the package, made a mess everywhere, and made the resealable flap not want to seal unless it was wiped down really well. Considering how expensive these are, they could really stand to rethink their packaging.

Huggies Natural Care Unscented Wipes – $0.03 per wipe, $1.27 per pack in a case of 6 packs.
These are a great, less expensive alternative to Water Wipes. The Natural Care wipes work just as well as regular Huggies wipes but without the chemicals because they’re 99% water. There are only 48 in a pack so they’re a bit more expensive than regular wipes, but not nearly as expensive as Water Wipes.

*Pampers also makes water-based baby wipes now, but since I don’t care for regular Pampers wipes, I have not tried these.*

Baby Wipes Review “Winner”

Hands down, I prefer unscented Huggies baby wipes. If Judah is having an issue with any kind of diaper rash or redness, I’ll get the Huggies Natural Care water-based wipes, but they are more expensive as well so in general I stick with my tried and true choice. And when someone asks my opinion on which kind to buy for baby gifts, this is always what I tell them to get.

As with anything, everyone has their own personal preferences about how things work, look, feel, and smell so what I think is an excellent product might be something another person can’t stand, and vice versa.

Are there any brands you’ve tried that you really like or dislike? Let me know! I’d love to hear about your experiences!
